4 month stats

Sorry if last weeks posts seemed kinda random and schizophrenic.  I had written 3 posts over the weekend and scheduled them for Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.  So I wasn't actually boasting about weight loss while my baby was running a 103 fever.  You guys probably didn't notice or think twice, but it bothered me.

Anyway, Maddie is doing very well.  We had a bit of a scare Friday when daycare called to tell me they didn't think she had had any wet diapers.  Also, she was fussing during her bottle and when they finally got her to finish it, she threw up the whole thing and they saw blood in her vomit.  Needless to say, I freaked the fuck out!  I called S who called the doctor since I was rushing home to pick her up.  As I drove home, the more I thought about all of the horrible tests they were going to do to my poor baby to figure out what was wrong, and I cried hysterically.  S quickly called back and told me the nurses said to calm down and not to worry right now.  They suggested nursing Maddie a little at a time in case she was dehydrated.  So I did that...5 minutes on, 15 minutes off, for nearly 2 hours.  We finally got a massively wet diaper.  The nurse called back and told us to stop the antibiotics since they were causing more harm than good (Maddie was having lots of diarrhea, causing the dehydration).  Since then, she has been fine.

Her regularly scheduled 4 month appointment was Monday, but we weren't sure if they were going to give her shots because of being sick last week.  The doctor said since she had been fever free since Thursday, they didn't see any reason to postpone.  She took the shots like a champ this time!  She kinda looked at me like WTF was that??? but then just went back to her wubbanub.

My big girl is weighing in at 14 lbs 12 oz, and is 24 inches long!  The doc said we can start solids if we want, but I'm not sure she is ready yet.  I'm not sure I'm ready yet :(  I feel like I need to read up on it anyway because I have no idea how you go about feeding a baby solids.  Like how much, how often, etc.

Hopefully we will not see the doctor again until March for her 6 month checkup.
