It's a girl!

We had our anatomy ultrasound on Tuesday, and most importantly, everything looks great. There were no indications of spina bifida, club feet, cleft palate, or any of the "soft markers" for Downs. We got to see five fingers and five toes. Finally at the end, the ultrasound tech took a look and let us guess what we thought Patches was. We both said that we didn't see anything that looked like a boy part, and he said that's because it's a girl! I was completely shocked because I really thought it was a boy this whole time. S said he knew all along she was a girl, but he never said anything because he thought I wanted a boy. I just want a happy, healthy baby.

After the initial shock, the idea of a little girl has grown on me. Actually grown on me is not the right phrase. I can't imagine wanting anything else other than my little girl. Even though I wasn't the girliest of girls, I can't wait to play with dolls or have tea parties, or do whatever it is little girls do. With any luck, she'll let me teach her how to throw a spiral too. And I can't wait to do arts and crafts and teach her to sew, to the best of my very amateur sewing ability. I'm having a little girl who is already a princess to me.
