The folks at Fairhaven Health contacted me a few months ago and offered to send me some of their products to review. They make nutritional supplements for women and men who are trying to conceive. I knew that I would be doing another Clomid cycle, so that meant 1) I could not use their FertileAid product (not recommended if you are on fertility drugs), and 2) that my cervical mucus would be non-existent, as it was on 2 previous clomid cycles. So I requested a bottle of their product Fertile CM. Here is what their website claims Fertile CM will do for you:
• Naturally and safely supports the production of cervical mucus during a woman's fertile time.
• Increases female sexual arousal and stimulation.
• Supports hydration and liquidity of cervical fluids.
• Facilitates mucus alkalinity and a healthy vaginal environment.
• Enhances endometrial secretions that strengthen the uterine lining and support
healthy implantation of the embryo.
I started taking it (3 times a day!) on the first day of my cycle. I will admit that I was not always good about taking it 3 times, but always took it 2 times a day. I definitely noticed that I was a lot more, ummm, moist, while I was taking it. Around the week of ovulation (I was taking Bravelle injections), I noticed more egg white cervical mucus than I have ever seen in my life. There were gobs of it! And it lasted all week until I took my trigger shot and ovulated.
Clomid is also notorious for thinning the uterine lining so that it would not support implantation or a pregnancy. I was going for ultrasounds just about every other day, and on my last one, I was told my lining was 9.8mm, which is fantastic. I was also drinking a glass of pomegranate juice every day, which is also supposed to help build the uterine lining.
The one thing I did not notice about Fertile CM was it's claim that it "increases female sexual arousal and stimulation." That may have been because I wasn't good about taking that 3rd pill everyday, or because of all of the other drugs I was taking (Clomid, Bravelle, Ovidrel). But honestly, I was not taking it because I was looking for a female Viagra, I was taking it to increase my cm, which it did.
I won't know if it helped support the healthy implantation of an embryo for another week, but I'll keep you posted :)
If you notice you have a problem with cervical mucus, I would recommend trying Fertile CM.
