Maybe I've just been blessed and have never had cramps the way others have, because the HSG that was supposed to just feel like cramps felt like I was going to die. There was severe cramping when the balloon was inserted to keep my cervix open. I thought that was going to be the worst of the pain but I was wrong. When she pushed the dye through it felt like someone was twisting a knife inside of me. As I was fighting back the tears I thought there is no way I will be able to handle childbirth if I can't handle this. I felt better after the test. In fact I felt good enough that I thought I could handle helping the hubby paint our old house. Man, that was a huge mistake. After a few hours I started feeling really uncomfortable. By the time I got home at 7pm, I could barely stand up or move around, the pain was so bad. 800mg Ibuprofen were not doing the trick, so I finally took a percocet and went to bed. I still feel some pain today, but I'm hoping if I don't move around too much it won't be that bad. The thing is, I'm not sure if the pain is related to the test or a ruptured ovarian cyst. It feels a lot like it did in the days after Fat Tony ruptured. Side note, Fat Tony was my plum sized complex ovarian cyst that sent me to the ER - we like to name our serious ailments in our house :-) I was feeling a lot of pain all day Monday that I thought could have been a cyst, but it was not as bad as Fat Tony. I am now scared to death about the endometrial biopsy next week. The HSG was supposed to be the easier test...how the hell am I going to handle a more painful exam?
The important thing is the HSG showed that everything is clear! Woo hoo!!
